Ingredients

  • 1 Lb beef strips boneless sirloin
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ pound mushrooms
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tbsp black pepper
  • ½ tbsp creole seasoning
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp chili flakes
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 8 oz sour cream cup
  • 2 cornstarch
  • 1 tsp bouillon powder
  • cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Season beef strips with bouillon, creole seasoning, salt and black pepper. Leave to stand for 10 mins. Bring out the beef broth. Add a little water to the cornstarch to form a slurry, transfer to the broth. Add in the soy sauce and stir together. Set aside.
  • Add oil to skillet or pan, add a little butter and cook the beef in batches until brown. Set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining butter, add the onions, garlic and chili flakes and mushrooms. Cook for 2 minutes. Add back the beef strips and the broth, cook for 2 minutes. Now add the heavy cream and sour cream, stir and leave to thicken. Serve with rice, pasta or egg noodles.

Notes

Beef stroganoff is a classic dish that can be customized in various ways to suit your taste preferences or dietary restrictions. Here are some variations you might consider:
Turkey Stroganoff: Substitute beef with ground or thinly sliced turkey for a leaner option.
Vegan Stroganoff: Use plant-based protein such as seitan, tofu, or tempeh instead of beef. Replace dairy with vegan alternatives such as coconut milk or cashew cream.
Spicy Stroganoff: Add diced jalapeños, red pepper flakes, or a dash of hot sauce to the sauce for a spicy kick.
Healthy Stroganoff: Use Greek yogurt or low-fat sour cream instead of heavy cream to lighten up the dish. Load up on veggies like bell peppers, carrots, and peas for added nutrition.
Potato Stroganoff: Serve the stroganoff over mashed potatoes or roasted potatoes for a comforting twist.
Feel free to mix and match these variations or get creative with your own additions to make a beef stroganoff that suits your taste!
